If you are just starting out in Astrophotography, it can help to get pointed in the right direction. Here are some Youtube videos and channels I recommend, they have a great selection of videos from setup and gear to stacking and editing your photos:
There are lots of different software that stacks your collection of photos and averages out the noise and removes stray satellines and planes. AstroEdit has the following stacking software, try them all out and see which one you prefer:
– Deep Sky Stacker
– ASTAP
– SIRIL
– Pixinsight
– Sequator
Stacking with Deep Sky Stacker
One of the most popular stacking programs to stack all your photos together. It takes some getting used to but once you get the hang of it, it works very well.
Editing with Photoshop
Photoshop is where I started and I still use it in every photo I edit today. AstroEdit comes with Photoshop pre-installed and ready to go. Check out this video to learn how to edit great photos in Photoshop.
Editing with Pixinsight
There are so many good video tutorials out there, I suggest starting with this one as it’s easy to follow then try some others out and try to find a process you’re happy with. If you want any more suggestions feel free to email us at support@astroedit.co.uk
Editing with SIRIL
SIRIL is a relative new comer and its latest release added some great features to try out. It’s also free to download and works on Windows, Mac OS and Linux so theres likely a version you can try at home as well.
